It looks like Miami-Dade County could be paying for big-name games and events at Sun Life stadium.
Reportedly Mayor Carlos Gimenez will propose paying up to 5 million a year to the Dolphins if they secure events like a Super Bowl, major college football games and the like.
The trade off - the Dolphins and Stephen Ross will cover all costs to renovate the stadium, with no county tax dollars involved.
The money would come from County hotel taxes.
A commission vote is expected on Tuesday.
If it is not approved, Gimenez will have nixed three stadium proposals in about a month. He started by endorsing a David Beckham soccer stadium on the Miami waterfront, provided Miami endorsed the plan. City leaders rejected it yesterday.
