"Be Disaster Aware...Take Time To Prepare..."

That is the message of a new series of public service ads introduced to kick of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)'s National Preparedness Month, Monday, September 1st.

Sixty percent of Americans say preparation for natural or man-made disasters is very important to them.

But, under 20 percent are prepared for an emergency.

FEMA spokesman Jerome Hatfield says they are urging everyone to have a family communication plan as well as emergency kits to get through at least a few days following a natural or man-made disaster.

The readiness campaign goes on all month, and it culminates on September 30th when FEMA wants the nation to take action to get and stay prepared.
