International Real Estate buyers are making a splash here in the Sunshine State.

Florida is the number one state for foreign buyers according to the National Association of Realtors.

Over the last 12 months, Florida claimed 23% of the country's overall foreign transactions.

National Association of Realtors spokesperson Jed Smith says buyers shouldn't be put off by the news.

"I wouldn't worry about competing with the international buyer," says Smith, "I would rather have a Realtor tell me what my credit and other profile needs to look like in order to be a prime customer to the seller."

Smith says buyers from Latin America and Europe made up more than half of all foreign purchases in the state.

Overall, foreign sales totaled more than $92-billion for the period, which is up from more than $68-billion last year.
