Word this afternoon that the City of Miami has taken the boat slip next to the American Airlines Arena off the table as a possible site for an MLS soccer stadium.

City officials say they have met with David Beckham's group and have passed word to Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Gimenez as well.

Mayor Tomas Regalado and City Manager David Alfonso said a soccer stadium along Biscayne Boulevard isn't the best use for the spaces involved.

A Beckham spokesperson says the group will now take some time to reevaluate other options in the area.
