If you're heading to the beach this holiday weekend pretty much anywhere along the eastern coast of Florida you need to watch out for rough surf and possible rip currents.

It's all thanks to Hurricane Arthur.

Once the strong waves die down, the rip currents should kick in from the Panhandle down to Palm Beach.

Beach Patrol officials are warning if you're going to get in the water, make sure you're near a manned lifeguard stand.

If you do get caught in a rip current, swim parallel to the beach.

You can head back to shore once you feel the pull subsiding.
