UPDATE 8/21 11:57am

We're in the peak of hurricane season and right on schedule, we've got a disturbance in the Atlantic to worry about.

National Hurricane Center spokesman Dennis Feltgen says the activity is currently east of the Windward Islands.

There's a 50-50 chance that a tropical cyclone could develop over the next 2 days.

Feltgen says a hurricane hunter aircraft is headed out this afternoon to get a better idea of what we could be dealing with early next week.

Tropical trouble could be brewing in the Atlantic.

Forecasters are keeping a close eye on a disturbance that's churning Southeast of the Lesser Antilles.

The National Hurricane Center is calling for a 60% chance of development in the next few days.

If it develops -- the next named storm would be Cristobal.
