Controversy has struck the world of Floridian dog lovers as the Department of Health has ruled that dogs will no longer be allowed in breweries. That's right, they're officially banned. This has come as a shock to many across the Sunshine State as it's never been an issue before. Dogs have always been prohibited from entering establishments that sell food, but now the Dept. of Health is taking a stricter, more by the book approach.
The Department sent out letters to breweries across the state that, according to 7 News Miami, included the definition of "food" in the eyes of the law. That definition states that it counts as “any raw, cooked, or processed edible substance, ice, beverage or ingredient used or intended for use in whole, or in part, for human consumption." So with that, beer DOES count.
This whole situation is unfortunate for many, and they're not being quiet about their frustration. A petition has been started at change.org to combat this ruling. At the time of this blog post, the petition has over 23,000 signatures.
