Living In The Cone of Death: We Made It!

When this thing (Hurricane Dorian, now known as "Thing") turned north, and the Cone of Death (filled with concern, probability, uncertainty, and stress) looked like it had shifted upward, I did what all veteran South Floridians did. I checked in on the Weather Channel's Jim Cantore’s whereabouts (there were photographs of him flying into Palm Beach International airport). Cantore was in Stuart, but I bet his traveling secretary was looking for a direct flight to Charleston.

They (forecasters) had us in a total and complete panic. In fact, on Saturday morning, 72% of gas stations were without fuel and the stores were empty. The problem is, we are supposed to buy our water, batteries, dry goods and beer in June, at the beginning of hurricane season...but NONE of us do. We wait until they start talking storm surge and then we lose our minds.

Thankfully, we didn’t get a Category 4. Good luck to our friends to the north of us. Consider it a dry run, and save your water, only three months of Hurricane season left.

Let’s go surfing.
