Today The Beatles Invaded

It is the day forever immortalized in music history and the true beginning of what became the British Invasion, in 1964 The Beatles made their US debut on CBS-TV's 'The Ed Sullivan Show'!

If you were lucky enough to be in the studio for the show, The Fab Four performed five songs including their No.1 hit 'I Want To Hold Your Hand'. Before that moment, never had so many viewers tuned-in to a live program. 73 million viewers, which amounted to three-fourths of the total adult audience in the U S., as over 50,000 people applied for the 728 seats in the Ed Sullivan Theater.

The rest is well chronicled history, as rock music was changed forever, The Beatles invaded and were followed by The Rolling Stones, The Kinks, Gerry & The Pacemakers and more. Beatlemania was in full force as the British Invasion swept the nation and Rock & Roll had a new sound.
