What The Hell Is Up With October 3rd!

Dude who wasn't born on October 3rd?!

The beleif in horiscopes and numerology is something that's usually up for debate, but for whatever reason, this day seems to be important in the world of music, as so many rock greats are born on it!

Let's start with Eddie Cochran, who was born on this day in 1938. His 1958 hit single 'Summertime Blues', went to No. 8 in the US charts, and was a hot for Shocking Blue and The Who. He also was an early pioneer with multitrack recording, distortion techniques, and overdubbing, while playing guitar, piano, bass, and drums.

Then, there's Chubby Checker, who was born in 1941. Born under the name Ernest Evans, he would change it to Chubby Checker and hit big in 1960 going No.1 with 'The Twist', in 1960 and again in 1962. The song is a timeless classic that's been used in everything from movies & tv to commercials and musicals.

In 1949 Lindsey Buckingham was born. The famed guitarist, singer & songwriter, would have a historic career as a member of Fleetwood Mac and one half of the duo, Buckingham Nicks with his then girlfriend and future Hall of Famer herself Stevie Nicks. Buckingham also has six solo albums and three live albums, and the hit theme to National Lampoon's Vacation movies "Holiday Road".

Speaking of guitarists, Stevie Ray Vaughn was born on this day in 1954. One of the most influential guitarists in blues history made his mark in the 1980s, revitalizing the genre to a new generation of music lovers. His feature on David Bowie's Let's Dance album, would shine a bigger light on him, but his own work personifying the blues made him the iconic legend we revere today.

In 1962 Tommy Lee was born, not only known form marrying supermodels and actresses, Elaine Starchuk and Heather Locklear and Pamela Anderson, but he had a pretty good career as a founding member of Motley Crue. Aside from being one of the most recognized drummers of the 80's, let's also throw in there that he helped compose the Crue's biggest hit "Home Sweet Home".

And, let's top thins off with the birth of Gwen Stefani in 1969 (no puns here please)! Gwen Stefani, future Hall Of Fame career with the band No Doubt, needs no sensationalization, with hits like ‘Don’t Speak’ and 'I'm Just A Girl', but let's also throw in her massive solo career with all time bangers like 'Hollaback Girl’. Throw in a successful tv career and her inclusion on this list of rock greats born on this day makes total sense.

I don't know what harmonic convergence seems to happen on October 3rd, but I am curious to see what next rock legend is gonna be born on this day!
