Today Tico Torres celebrates a birthday!
The Bon Jovi drummer was already well known on the rock scene before landing the permanent gig in Bon Jovi. After studying with famed Jazz drummer Joe Morello, Torres began a long career as a hired gun playing for, Pat Benatar, Chuck Berry, Cher, Alice Cooper and Stevie Nicks. He even auditioned for Kiss in 1980, when Peter Criss left the band, but lost out to Eric Carr.
Torres was friends with bassist Alec John Such, and joined him in Bon Jovi, when Jon began to put the band together, becoming the permanent drummer of one of the biggest bands of the 80's and playing on two of the biggest albums of all time "Slippery When Wet" and "New Jersey", which dominated the charts throughout the decade. Tico has had an over 60 year career in the business, that was topped off with his induction into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame in 2018.
Happy Birthday Tico!
