As the year winds down, there's no better way to kick off New Year's Eve than with an evening of laughter and fun. Patton Oswalt, the award-winning comedian, actor, and pop culture icon, will bring his "Effervescent" show to Miami's Adrienne Arsht Center on December 31 at 7:30 PM. If you're looking for plans to end 2024 on a high note, this is the perfect way to do it.

We talked with Oswalt on the show this morning and he shared his excitement about performing in Miami, a city he knows well from his time filming episodes of Burn Notice. He also offered his personal recommendations for spots to check out before and after his show.

Why "Effervescent"?

Patton jokingly explained that the title of his show, "Effervescent," is more of an ironic affirmation than a literal description. As he put it, "It’s almost like it’s an affirmation I’m saying into my mirror as I wake up in the morning: ‘You are effervescent. Get out there and shine.’" This tongue-in-cheek humor sets the tone for an unforgettable evening of sharp wit and hilarious observations.

Patton’s Favorite Miami Spots

A&M Comics

It's "one of the oldest comic bookstores in the country," making it a must-visit for comic book fans. The store's rich history and incredible selection make it a treasure trove for geeks and collectors alike.

Giselle Miami

If you're seeking a unique dining experience, Oswalt raved about their "caviar bump" appetizer and the indulgent "standing mac and cheese." While on the pricier side, he assures it's worth it for the flavor and experience.

Canvas Bar

After the show, Patton recommends heading to this spot for drinks and fun. Featuring pinball machines, video games, and creative cocktails, it’s the ideal place to continue the New Year’s Eve celebrations.

Tickets and Event Details

Patton’s decision to perform earlier in the evening—from 7:30 to 9:30 PM—was a deliberate one. He explained, "You should be with a little group of friends somewhere, raising drinks. That’s how you should chime in the New Year. So, I said this year, let’s do the show at 7:30 so people can go out and get drinks and stuff afterwards."

Patton Oswalt’s "Effervescent" show will take place at the Adrienne Arsht Center’s Knight Concert Hall. Tickets are available now at arshtcenter.org. Don’t miss this opportunity to laugh your way into 2025!
