Game of Thrones is being blamed for the mass adoption of Huskies around the world, but in the United States the show is also being blamed for the mass abandonment of them.
Dire Wolves are a fictional breed of wolf on the show and in the real world a husky is as close as it's going to get. But either people are too stupid to know the difference or are getting tired to latching on to a dog trend (remember puggles?) and when they realize a husky is not a wolf but also really really loud, the rate of return is high - there has been a 700% increase in the breed being abandoned because of the confusion!
