Actor Ronald Lee Ermey passed away over the weekend; yes he was also a voice actor but was certainly best known for playing Gunnery Sergeant Hartman in Full Metal Jacket( it earned him a Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor).
But he had a serious career before falling into acting: he was a former United States Marine Corps staff sergeant and an honorary gunnery sergeant and also served as a drill instructor!
He did voice work for the History Channel and even voiced kids movies like plastic army men leader Sarge in the Toy Story films and the warden in SpongeBob SquarePants!
