Sanitation Workers Put On The Front Lines In Coronavirus Crisis

The coronoavirus crisis is putting South Florida sanitation workers on the front lines. Waste Mangement's Dawn McCormick says their 35-hundred employees are all showing up, but it's not business as usual. They are wearing goggles and gloves and standing 6 feet apart. She says this will be the new normal from here on out. Because of the outbreak there's a surge in solid medical waste and because of the quarantine - there's more home garbage which could pose a risk to sanitation workers since people can be asymptomatic. So far, there are no garbage and recycling workers publicly known to have the virus.
