Eta is Now a Hurricane as it Treks Towards a Gulf Coast Landfall

Tropical Storm Eta @ 7a on Thursday 11.11.20

Eta has been upgraded to a Category 1 hurricane and is strengthening over the Gulf of Mexico. It is likely to impact Florida over the next three days.

Eta is currently moving at 15 mph and is about 130 west-southwest of Fort Myers and 170 miles south-southwest of Tampa. Maximum sustained winds have increased to 75 mph.

According to the National Hurricane Center, winds could continue to intensify through today.  Eta's course is now set for landfall along the Big Bend of Florida, just to the east of Ocala, late Thursday or early Friday morning.

Sometime tomorrow, Eta is predicted to to move inland over the northern portion of the Florida.
