MERCEDES-BENZ CORPORATE RUN IS GOING VIRTUAL FOR 2020

MIAMI, Fla. (June 30, 2020) – Team FootWorks, producers of the highly anticipated annual Mercedes-Benz Corporate Run presented by Turkish Airlines, announced today that the 2020 run series will go virtual this year with a combined week-long event experience planned. Registered participants from across the tri-county area are invited to lace up their sneakers and hit the ground running (while maintaining their distance) beginning on Wednesday, August 19, with a live streaming warm-up presented by AvMed and hosted by United Way of Miami-Dade at 6 p.m., followed by the official race start at 6:15 p.m. Participants will be able to complete and log their time at their leisure from Wednesday, August 19, through Sunday, August 23, with warm-up replay available any time online at www.mercedesbenzcorporaterun.com.

“While 2020 looks different, coming together and celebrating the spirit of corporate camaraderie is what the Corporate Run was founded on 35 years ago,” said Laurie Huseby, president of Team FootWorks. “Since 1985, Team FootWorks has strived to deliver on its core mission of producing health and wellness activities and events for the South Florida community. Given the nature and spirit of the Corporate Run and our ongoing communications with local city officials regarding safely moving forward with respect to coronavirus, we’re encouraged to bring you this new opportunity.”

Registered participants can expect the following:

With more than 38,000 participants in 2019, the race series was scheduled to take place on April 2 in Fort Lauderdale, April 15 in West Palm Beach and April 23 in Miami. Race organizers had to postpone the runs due to the coronavirus pandemic. As unprecedented as these times have been, the virtual platform will provide the safest option for runner and corporate participation.

Year after year, the Mercedes-Benz Corporate Run attracts participants from more than 1,200 South Florida companies. Known as “Florida’s Largest Office Party”, everyone is encouraged to join their company team. Beginners can “ease into exercise” with friends, gain inspiration and motivation to continue walking and running to improve overall health. A portion of the proceeds from the combined virtual runs will benefit United Way, the race circuit’s long-time charity partner.

“We greatly appreciate the continued support Mercedes-Benz and TeamFootWorks offer to South Florida that is needed now more than ever. The Corporate Run may look and feel a bit different this year, but our partners have once again shown their commitment to United Way and our community,” Maria C. Alonso, president and CEO, United Way of Miami-Dade. “With their support, South Floridians will continue to stay united in spirit and fight for a healthier, stronger community during these unprecedented and challenging times.” For more information, or to register to participate, contact Team FootWorks at (305) 666-RACE (7223) or visit www.mercedesbenzcorporaterun.com, www.facebook.com/MercedesBenzCorporateRun or www.teamfootworks.org.
