Happy Polka Dot Day!

It's National Polka Dot Day!

Polka dots first appeared in the 1857 Godey's Lady's Book, a magazine out of Philly, and now they appear on fabric, painted on walls & fingernails, and you find them on pottery, phone cases, furniture, baked goods, paper products and GUITARS!

What rock fan doesn't immediately think of Randy's Rhoads' flying v when hearing the word polka dot?! Rhoads’ polka-dot guitar was built in 79 by Karl Sandoval, and featured heavily in his tenure with Ozzy Osbourne, as he recorded and toured with Ozzy for "Blizzard of Oz" and "Diary of a Madman". Buddy Guy is also well known for rockin a polka dot Fender Strats on stage and in the studio as tribute to his mother.

From Minnie Mouse to The American Dream Dusty Rhoads polka dots have endured the test of time, being used in outfits, car paint jobs, and classic artwork. So today break out your best polka dot anything, and if you don't have anything, then create your own, cause nothing says fun more than polka dots!
