Today Bowie Gave Us The Thin White Duke With Station To Station

In 1976 David Bowie gave us The Thin White Duke with the release of "Station To Station".

Co-produced by Bowie and Harry Maslin, Station to Station was recorded at Cherokee Studios in L.A., after Bowie wrapped on the film The Man Who Fell to Earth. The cover of the album was a still from the film, as Bowie was dependent on cocaine, and recalled almost nothing of making the album.

Station to Station transitioned Bowie, from the funk and soul of "Young Americans" to the more electronic German krautrock, as lyrically Bowie focused on Friedrich Nietzsche, Aleister Crowley, mythology and religion.

Powered by the single "Golden Years", Station to Station was a success, reaching the top five on the US charts, while supported with the Isolar Tour. The tour would push Bowie to move to Europe to remove himself from the drug culture of L.A. The album became some of Bowie's most acclaimed work, and received by music critics, as one of the greatest albums of all time.
