It's Beer Can Appreciation Day!
That's right, today we celebrate the fact that at one time beer existed outside of a can and could only be drunk locally. Then, in 1935 Krueger Brewing Company of Richmond, Virginia sold the first beer in a can, made possible by American Can Company. Krueger partnered with the American Can Company weeks before the repeal of Prohibition. At 4 ounces, the steel cans would open with a church key, and Krueger's drinkers bought the can over the bottle 9-1.
So today don't pop a top, or tap a keg, get yourself a six pack and crush that can!
