Happy National Radio Day!

It's National Radio Day!

On this day we recognize the invention of the radio!

Whether you use it for news, information, music, or stories, the airwaves are an essential part of our lives and have been controlled by a device created more than a hundred years ago now. it wasn't just one person that can be credited with creating it, because each component was developed through invention and discovery and their convergence is what made created the radio. Germanys' Heinrich Hertz, Nicola Tesla, and Italian, Guglielmo Marconi all had a hand in what became the radio.

The radio's first function was military and provided public service roles, like serving in an emergency capacity with a wireless broadcast of the Titanic's distress signal. By, 1906, Reginald Fessenden created the first radio broadcast of his voice and music, and entertainment as we would come to know it was born.

Everything we use today to transmit information and enjoy news and entertainment was built on the pillar that is radio. So, turn it up and celebrate one of the greatest inventions in the history of modern man!
