Man trespasses at Florida high school to pray in the school's parking lot

A man accused of trespassing at a Florida high school told authorities he was on school property because he wanted to pray in their parking lot.

Cape Coral Police say 31-year-old Brian Quinones tried to get into the parking lot of Ida Baker High School while school was in session on Friday.

According to investigators, Quinones was driving a green F-150 pickup when he approached an open gate and told a security guard he was visiting his old school that day and wanted to enter the parking lot so he could pray.

The security guard told Quinones to make a U-turn and leave; but when he circled back, Quinones threatened to harm the security guard.

The school's Senior Resource Officer and principal got involved, ordering Quinones to leave.

Quinones agreed, however school staff feared he was heading to his old middle school, so they alerted the Senior Resource Officer at Trafalgar Middle School, who reported that Quinones never showed up.

Cape Coral police say the next time Quinones goes to a Lee County Public School without a valid reason, he'll be issued a Trespass warning.

Quinones was previously arrested in September of 2021 for DUI Hit & Run.
