Every now and then the news cycle delivers a story that's so ridiculous that you can't help but ask, "Is this real life?" Such is the case with this googly-eyed fish scandal. Yes, you read that right. A shop in Kuwait has been caught trying to make old fish look fresher using googly eyes. Which is both disgusting and hilarious.
After the photo evidence started circulating online, many rival shop owners began advertising fresh fish "without cosmetics", which was hilariously reported by the BBC. They also reported that in July there were accusations against another shop owner stating that he was stuffing his fish with steel nails to make them weigh more.
These are the kinds of stories you just can't make up, and we've got the proof below:

Never judge the freshness of fish by the googliness of their eyes. https://t.co/hW50lwpwCz— Matthew Dalby, PhD (@MatthewJDalby) September 1, 2018
