School Bus Driver Caught Letting Students Drive

Valapariso, Indiana is now the home of a bus driver who's made some spectacularly bad choices. As reported by Local 10 ABC, 27-year-old bus driver (now ex-bus driver) Joandrea Dehaven McAtee was caught on camera allowing her students to drive the bus. How she didn't think she was being recorded is truly baffling. The footage shows McAtee allowing this to happen clear as day.

According to the police department, McAtee allowed an 11-year old, a 13-year-old, and a 17-year old drive the bus. She can even be hard giving the children instructions. You can hear her say ""First, what you gotta do, is put your foot on the brake."

McAtee has now been fired (of course) by First Student, the company which operates bus transportation. Their statement was as follows:

"We are incredibly disappointed by the actions of our former driver. There is nothing more important than the safety of the students we transport. Behavior such as this is completely unacceptable and totally at odds with what we stand for as a company. The driver has been terminated. We have a zero-tolerance policy for employees whose actions may harm or put others at risk."

McAtee now faces felony charges of child neglect. Below is footage of the incident:
