Potential Red Tide Related Health Problems In Palm Beach

As reported by The Miami Herald, health problems arising throughout Palm Beach, Florida are raising concerns of possible "red tide." The first indicators of potential problems came when citizens in Jupiter complained of eye irritation and even problems breathing.

Now, after a multitude of complaints and reports, Palm Beach and Lantana have shut down their beaches. While there has been no confirmation of toxic algae in the waters, they are being tested and it appears to be a serious possibility. Palm Beach citizens did receive a message saying “Midtown and Phipps Ocean Park beaches will be closed until further notice reference possible red tide.”

The testing is cause for concern because, as the Herald reported, the algae in general has been the worst it's been since 2006.
