Drug Testing at Work Is a Thing of the Past

Drug And Alcohol Testing Industry Association Conference Is Held In Seattle

Drug use among American employees is at a 14-year high

According to a recent study conducted by Quest Diagnostics, 4.4 percent of all employee drug tests came back positive. Yikes! The growing trend of legalizing marijuana across the country has a lot to do with that number.

In the same study they also looked at current job listings to see exactly which companies require pre-employment drug tests. On average, only 1.47 percent of job postings in the U.S. mention that they require tests and only 0.66 percent of job postings mention regular drug testing.

A few of the most likely industries to require pre-employment drug tests were:

  • • Government
  • • Health Care & Hospitals
  • • Aerospace & Defense
  • • Education & Schools

We double checked and radio show host did not make that list. Not that we have anything to worry about of course.
