A bizarre love triangle resulted in two men shooting at each other and multiple arrests.
WBRC reports Frank Reeves, of Creola, Alabama, was shot by a man he believed to be an intruder, but was actually his wife's secret live-in boyfriend, Michael Amacker, on Sunday, August 15.
The department confirmed Frank's wife, Tracy Reeves, was letting Amacker live inside their home for more than a year without her husband's knowledge.
“My wife and I have lived here for 13 years, never ever seen anything go on like this,” said neighbor Kenneth Wilson via WBRC.
Investigators said the two men shot each other, with Frank getting hit in the chest and Amacker struck in the leg and elbow. Both men were transported to the hospital with injuries.
Wilson said he witnessed the aftermath take place.
“We saw them bring out the suspect, and also the man that was shot, and they both seemed to be okay,” Wilson said. “They weren’t saying much, in fact, the suspect did not say a word, it looked like he was way out of it.”
Mobile County Sheriff's Captain Paul Burch said both Amacker and Tracy Reeves were high on methamphetamines at the time of the incident, which he called one of the most bizarre cases he's ever seen.
“It was just a very odd scene to work,” said Captain Paul Burch. “It’s something that I haven’t seen in 30 plus years.”
Amacker was charged with attempted murder, possession of a controlled substance and possession of a firearm with an altered serial number.
Tracy Reeves was later charged with possession of a controlled substance.
“I just pray that Mr. Frank is alright,” said neighbor Hunter Bennett. “I know he went to the hospital, I hope he recovers well, and I just hope the situations is resolved.”
