Girls and Guitars

You know, I've always wanted to learn guitar. My roomie got one and we promised to practise all the time ... needless t say we've picked it up a couple of times when drinking, had a little strum and then put it back down. Turns out that a new study from guitar company Fender revealed that 50 per cent of all “beginner and aspirational” guitar players are women. The trend that started a few years ago was thought to be inspired by Taylor Swift but it turns out the trend is ongoing. Fender CEO Andy Mooney told Rolling Stone, “Taylor has moved on, I think playing less guitar on stage than she has in the past. But young women are still driving 50% of new guitar sales. So the phenomenon seems like it’s got legs, and it’s happening worldwide.” Now just to try practising again ... sober. 😊
