We don't really think of Adam Sandler as a serious actor do we? I mean sure he ventured into dramatic territory with his roles in Punch-Drunk Love (2002),Spanglish (2004), Reign Over Me(2007), Funny People(2009), The Meyerowitz Stories (2017), all of which earned him critical praise but generally he's the guy who does comedies and romantic comedies, usually with Drew Barrymore. But we now get another look at his dramatic side with his new movie Uncut Gems (2019) which critics are saying could win him a shiny gold statue or two!
In the film, Sandler plays a gambling addict who works in New York’s Diamond District, where he tries to evade loan sharks while maneuvering to place a bet that could change his entire life—or finally destroy it.
