Well, this is something none of us wants to hear, especially if you had a few beverages this weekend.
A study found young people get no health benefits from alcohol. And the amount you can safely drink without any negative effects is comically low: For women under 40, it's two tablespoons of wine a day, or a quarter of a beer. For men under 40, it's one tablespoon of wine or a shot glass of beer.
There might be some minor benefits for people over 40, like lowering your risk for heart disease. But that's only if you don't have any underlying health conditions.
This is something for us to look forward to at least. If you're a healthy person who's over 40, you can safely drink a half-glass of wine a day, or half a beer.
