  • Yesterday’s sandbag distribution was successful. However, due to current weather conditions, no additional sandbag distribution is planned. 
  • Zoo Miami is closed Tuesday and Wednesday in anticipation of rain and possibly strong winds in association with Hurricane Ian.
  • Not only in South Florida expected to get heavy rain caused by Hurricane Ian, but thanks to King Tides, high tides are expected to be a foot to a foot-and-a-half higher than normal.
  • Miami Beach Chief Resilience Officer Amy Knowles says the city is prepared. So, there are up to a dozen temporary pumps. Along with its permanent pumps, Miami officials have seven portable ones for areas including Brickell, Morningside Park and Coconut Grove.
  • The low-lying portions of the Florida Keys will be dealing with not only the King Tides but also two to four feet of possible storm surge from Hurricane Ian.
  • Make sure you've done these things by tonight! Get some canned food, enough for pets and humans, and plenty of water and flashlights! Bring in pets inside and any lose furniture.

  • Remember as little as 12 inches of moving floodwater can be enough to float and carry away a small vehicle. Driving through six inches of standing water may cause vehicles to lose control and stall. If you approach a flooded road, path, or walkway: Turn Around, Don’t Drown. 
  • The current projected path of Tropical Storm Ian has moved west, removing Fort Lauderdale from the direct path of the storm. However, our area may experience heavy winds and rain beginning late today into early Wednesday.
  • Schools will be closed tomorrow and Thursday
