On his 69th Birthday David Bowie musically said goodbye to us all with the release of his 26th album Blackstar.
Released in 2016, Bowie secretly recorded the album in his beloved New York City with Tony Visconti and a group of local musicians. The sound on Blackstar is Bowie back to experimenting with art rock and jazz, as the singles "Blackstar" and "Lazarus" were released ahead of the album. Both came with music videos that showed the result of the liver cancer that Bowie was succumbing to, and two days after the album's release, Bowie died, leaving Blackstar as a "parting gift" for his fans. The album topped the charts becoming his only album to do so in the U.S., as Blackstar went Gold and won three Grammys. Years after Bowie's death, it has been named one of his best works.
