Today The World Came To Know The Who!

Today The Who was introduced to the world when their first single "I Can't Explain" was released. Accompanied by one of the best session guitarists Jimmy Page on rhythm guitar, the song was released in 1965 it was the band's first single under The Who name.

Page has always stated that he only played in the background, but Roger Daltrey confirmed that not only did Page play lead, he also played the solo on the song. Page was one of England's best session guitaists on the scene at the time and Towsend has on many occasions stated that his guitar skills evolved through time, so leaving the solo to someone else was not out of order for Pete at the time.

The song was not commercially successful but still became a classic of The Who's set through the years and historically landed on No. 59 on Spin's list of the "100 Greatest Singles of All Time", and No. 380 on Rolling Stone's list of the "500 Greatest Songs of All Time".
