Warm Up On Hot Buttered Rum Day!

Today is National Hot Buttered Rum Day!

It's January, and depending on where you are, it's probably chilly, cold, or anything other than warm, so what better time to enjoy a hot buttered rum. The drink contains rum, butter, hot water or cider, sweetener, and spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, or cloves. Associated with the holiday season hot buttered rum became popular in the U.S. back in the colonial days when Jamaica imported molasses to Colonial America, and New England distilleries began adding distilled rum to hot beverages like toddies and nogs, creating hot buttered rum.

Hot buttered rum is usually blended with a buttered rum batter with dark rum, which is a rum that has been barrel-aged to retain a more intense molasses flavor.

If you're off the clock head out to your favorite bar and warm up with a mug of hot buttered rum!
