It's National Florida Day!

It's National Florida Day!

Today the nation celebrate its 27th state! Whether it be great theme parks, bad governors, presidential election delays, or awsome beach festivals, its no exaggeration that Florida is one of the most polarizing places in the world.

The Sunshine State is home to the oldest established city in the US, St. Augustine was founded by the Spanish in 1565, and became the story of escapades of pirates and lost gold. Florida joined the Union on March 3, 1845, and has given the US many innovations throughout the years. Floridian John Gorrie brought refrigeration and air conditioning to the world in 1851, Benjamin Green, invented sunscreen in 1944 known as Coppertone, and the nations space programs are run out of the Kennedy Space Center in Brevard County since 1950.

With dominant sports teams in Pro, College and high school and one of the biggest music fan bases in the nation, residency in Florida has been a hot commodity for more than just it being state tax free. Muhammad Ali won his first title here, The Beatles and The Doors had legendary concerts here, New Philly Soul got changed into Disco here, and some of the biggest festivals in music are held here.

So celebrate Florida today America, it may come with some flaws, but its definitely one of the most fun states in the union!
