Remember When The U.S. Got Hit With Pyromania!

In 1983 Def Leppard's "Pyromania" hit the US Charts!

The album stayed on the charts for 92 weeks in a row! Unfortunately, for the British group Michael Jackson's Thriller stood in the way of a number one position for the album, but in the end Pyromania became one of the biggest selling albums of the decade.

The third album by Def Leppard, was the first to feature guitarist Phil Collen who replaced Pete Willis, after his problems with alcohol began to affect the group. Pyromania was produced by "Mutt" Lange, who greatly shifted Def Leppard's traditional metal roots to a more radio-friendly sound. The result, would push Pyromania to No. 2 on the Billboard 200, selling over ten million copies in the US, and certifying it diamond.

Pyromania's massive success, helped push the 1980s hair-metal movement into the limelight. "Photograph", "Rock of Ages" and "Foolin'" became top 40 singles off of heavy MTV video airplay, and "Too Late for Love" made the Top 10, with "Comin' Under Fire", "Billy's Got a Gun" and "Action! Not Words" making the top 40 of the Top Rock charts.

Pyromania was one of the biggest rock albums of all time and made Def Leppard superstars.
