Today We Got Television

Today We Got Television

In 1977 Television finally made it out of the underground and out into the music world with the release of "Marquee Moon" their debut album. A prominent act out of CBGB's Television did away with punk rock power chords and focused on rock and jazz-inspired melodic lines and melodies. What they got was the college radio friendly "Marquee Moon", and the title track's Bohemian style gave birth to what is now a staple in Alt Rock's sound.

The band got widespread acclaim, as Marquee Moon was hailed as an one of the most original musical pieces in rock music. The album achieved commercial success in the UK, and was included in Rolling Stone magazine's "500 Greatest Albums of All Time", as post-punk, new wave, and indie rock all trace their roots back to it.
