David Lombardo is celebrating a birthday today!
The iconic Thrash-Metal drummer blew up the scene as a co-founding member of Slayer, who tore through the 80's as one of the Big Four bands that laid the foundation for the resurgence of Heavy Metal in the decade.
Internal issues would lead to Dave leaving the band, but he would still find work other groups throughout his career until he rejoined Slayer in the 2000's. Conflicts over money would eventually split him from the group permanently, however and he continued on plays drums with Fantômas, Dead Cross, Mr. Bungle, Empire State Bastard, and Misfits.
Lombardo played drums on nine Slayer albums, in a music career that has spanned over 40 years, making him widely known as one of the most aggressive heavy metal drummers of all time and named by Drummerworld as "The Godfather of Double Bass".
