Today is National Peanut Butter Day!
No matter what europeans say about it, March 1st is the day we recognize that creamy (or crunchy) goodness that is peanut butter! Whether its PB & J, or peanut butter & chocolate, or a peanut butter and banana sandwhich made famous by Elvis Presley's mother, the cream is loved and a staple here in the US!
National Peanut Butter Lover's Day was commemorated in 1990, as it was promoted by both the Adult Peanut Butter Lovers Fan Club and the National Peanut Board, and although it's often credited to George Washington Carver, Marcellus Gilmore Edson of Montreal, Quebec, Canada was the first to patent it, as he began providing the spread to patients who had difficulty chewing.
For over a 100 year, we celebrate the benefits of peanut butter, and its history, so take a moment to enjoy it whichever way or form you want!
