It's Jerry Cantrell's Birthday!
The famed guitarist is the founder and co vocalist of the iconic grunge rock band Alice in Chains. The band hit the scene in the early 90s with their distinct vocal style and harmonizing between Cantrell and lead singer Layne Staley and with William DuVall after taking the reigns of solo lead for awhile after Staley's death.
With Staley the band had their biggest success off the albums Dirt & Jar Of Flies, as their ascension came with the rise and hostile takeover of grunge in the rock charts. After the sudden death of Layne Staley, Cantrell went solo with the albums Boggy Depot and Degradation Trip Volumes 1 & 2.
Cantrell is considered one of the "Greatest Guitar Players of All Time" and has earned nine Grammy Award nominations as a member of Alice in Chains.
Happy Birthday Layne, your riffs made you one of the masters of your time!
