It's National Shrimp Day!

It's National Shrimp Day!

The day where we Americans, celebrate that little sea creature we use in salads, cocktails, buffet's and on the grill!

Now there are some around the world who call these delectible bites of goodness “prawns,” but that would be what we Americans loosely use to describe any large shrimp, that we call “jumbo shrimp.” Some countries use the word “prawn” exclusively for all shrimp, but for us here in the US, shrimp is designated to the smaller of the specias which is why we call people who are short, shrimps.

There are many ways to cook shrimp, which include baking, boiling, broiling, sautéing, frying, and grilling, and it's even healthy to eat shrimps as it's low in calories and high in omega-3, calcium, iodine, and protein levels, which makes it good for the circulatory system.

So if you're hungry and you're hankerin for something to snack on, go out and get yourself some Seafood Gumbo or a Shrimp Cocktail, or Shrimp DeJonge, or maybe even some Shrimp Scampi!
