Brothers Brian, Dennis and Carl Wilson, their cousin Mike Love and buddy Al Jardine came together in the early 60's and blazed a trail that opened the door for album oriented rock! With their 1966 all-time classic “Pet Sounds,” Brian Wilson laid down the gauntlet to The Beatles in musical innovation which led them to create Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band!
Their saga is presented by Disney+ with the documentary, “The Beach Boys,” co-directed by Frank Marshall and Thom Zimny. Brian Wilson’s mental health issues are briefly explained through the nervous breakdown, which led to his decision to quit touring, and the selling of the band’s Sea of Tunes publishing company for $700,000 in 1969.
Unearthed performance footage, interviews with artists like Ryan Tedder and Janelle Monae, and current interviews with members make for a broad look at the Beach Boys career.
