Guess How Much A John Lennon Guitar Just Went For At Auction?!

John Lennon's guitar just sold at auction for $2.9 million dollars!

His 12-string Framus Hootenanny acoustic, that was used on the 1965 albums Help! and Rubber Soul, and appeared in the movie Help! on “You’ve Got to Hide Your Love Away,” was sold by Julien’s Auctions at the Hard Rock Cafe in New York City. The winning bid was $2,857,500,

“The guitar, a simple yet iconic instrument, witnessed the genesis of some of Lennon’s most beloved songs. It was a faithful companion during the Beatles’ early days, strummed in smoky pubs and cramped recording studios, and it played a pivotal role in shaping the sound that would define a generation. Its new owner is now the custodian of a piece of Lennon's soul, a tangible link to the creative energy that flowed through him and touched the lives of millions.” a statement on the guitar read.

The guitar was a gift to Peter & Gordon member Gordon Waller, after Lennon and Paul McCartney worked with the duo. Waller would later gift the guitar to his manager, who left it in his attic for decades.

If you have an attic you may wanna take a look at what's up there. I'm not saying it's Beatles memorabilia, but you never know what you can find till you look.
