Today we celebrate the classic treat that is Sugar Cookies!!
Each year on July 9 we honor National Sugar Cookie Day, whether plain or decorated nothing beats a freshly baked sugar cookie.
Easy to make, most sugar cookies include sugar, flour, butter, eggs, vanilla, and baking powder or baking soda, which is what makes it one of the most widely made cookies, because most people have the ingredients on hand. Children become part of the process, by decorating them in their own way.
Originating in the 1700s in Nazareth, Pennsylvania, German settlers created a buttery cookie that known as the Nazareth Cookie, and today, the sugar cookie is made in a variety of shapes and ways throughout the world.
Head out to your favorite bakery and enjoy the great and tasty sugar cookie and hashtag #NationalCookieDay on your posts when you do.
