A Bear Comes To Class For Snacks?!

A school teacher was surprised by a bear when she opened the door to her classroom!

A bear broke into a teacher's classroom to eat granola bars that are a part of the class’s emergency earthquake kits.

Elaine Salmon of Peak to Peak charter school, was in the office printing out paperwork when the bear broke in.

“When I came back to the classroom to open the door, the bear came charging toward the door because, I guess, it was able to come in but couldn’t get out,” she said.

The bear was removed by Salmon’s husband, Ian Sawrey, who's a specialist in cases dealing with bears.

“I’ve had encounters with residents that have been sitting in their room watching television, and the bear will tear through the screen and the window while they’re in the room,” said Sawrey. “I’ve had residents come home to their house with a bear in the fridge and they’ve yelled and screamed at the bear and the bear just looked at them and kept on eating.”

Precautions have been taken to deal with bears, like setting up bear patrols and installing deterrents, but encounters with bears are increasing as people continue to develop more on bear habitats. Luckily for the teacher, there was no class at the moment of the bear's raid, so no one was hurt. As, for the bear, he's back out in the wild looking for his next meal.
