10-year-old Maya Neelakantan rocked her way into the next round of America's Got Talent on a Metallica classic.
The band gave Maya permission to perform the iconic "Master of Puppets" for her appearance on AGT, and the crowd went ballistic as they immediately recognized the song. Now it's not to say that the place was filled with Thrash-Metal enthusiasts, but it is safe to say that there were a lot of Stranger Things fans, and probably a lot more tik tok users who've seen plenty of people try to cover the song after the popular episode.
After ripping through the performance, Maya flashed the metal horns and asked the crowd, "AGT, are you ready?" and changed her guitar tone to sound like a sitar, bringing everyone to thier feet, as she earned a standing ovation from the audience when she finished.
"I gotta say a big, big thank you to Metallica for giving you that song. That doesn't happen very often." Maya added, "It was just amazing. I'm so happy I had the honor of playing 'Master of Puppets' by Metallica for the first time on AGT. So thank you Metallica and thank you to the Cliff Burton family for making this possible."
Way to go Maya, maybe a little Van Halen for the next round!
