Just like when Taco Bell made a Doritos Tortilla for their tacos and everyone asked where's the ranch one, we are finally getting a DLR boxed set years after the Van Halen one.
Rhino records are unveiling a David Lee Roth box set, called "The Warner Recordings 1985-1994," on February 21. The set will include his first five solo releases, spanning his solo run away from Van Halen, as "The Warner Recordings 1985-1994", includes 5CD and D2C online, and a special 5LP version available only at Rhino.com.
Roth debuted as a solo artist with the "Crazy From The Heat" as the EP. crashed the Top 15 of the Billboard 200 and reached platinum status, which helped pave the way to the end of his involvement with Van Halen. With a pair of Billboard Hot 100 hits, "Just a Gigolo/I Ain't Got Nobody," and a cover of The Beach Boys "California Girls," which soared to No. 3, making "Crazy From The Heat" one of the biggest releases of that year.
Roth would go solo and release "Eat 'Em And Smile," which hit the Top 5 on the Billboard 200 and went platinum, as Roth recruited an all-star band consisting of bass prodigy Billy Sheehan, session darling Gregg Bissonette on drums, and the Frank Zappa prodigy Steve Vai on guitar. Behind hits like "Yankee Rose", "Goin Crazy", and "That's Life", Roth launched the "Eat 'Em And Smile" tour which became one of the highest grossing tours of the year.
