Miami Beach Mayor Issues Mask Mandate

Miami-Dade's mayor is reissuing a mask mandate for all county buildings. Because of this COVID surge caused by the Delta variant, Daniella Levine-Cava says we have to go back to the basics.

"Get vaccinated as soon as possible. Wear a mask in public indoor settings. We also strongly encourage people to wear a mask in all public settings even outdoors," said Levine-Cava.

She also recommends everyone wear a mask while in small spaces with crowds, but admits at this time she does not have the power to issue citations for those who do not abide by the mask mandate.

The county has doubled down on its testing and vaccination sites, opening new locations earlier this week. The mayor says the best way to combat the Delta variant is to get vaccinated.
