It's Election Day in Port St. Lucie.

Voters are selecting a new mayor after Greg Oravec resigned on June 30th, after serving as mayor since 2014.

There is also a race to fill the District 3 seat on the City Council, since longtime councilwoman Shannon Martin is running for the mayoral seat.

Edgar "E.J." Bernier is the other candidate in that mayoral race. He is a Marine veteran and St. Lucie County firefighter.

Six candidates are running for the District 3 seat.

If no single candidate gets more than 50 percent of the vote, there will be a December 7th run-off between the top two vote-getters.

Both of the races are open to all registered voters in the City of Port St. Lucie and the races are nonpartisan.

The winners of the elections will serve until November of next year.

Polls open Tuesday at 7 a.m.
