Five teachers were sent home from a local school for refusing to wear masks on campus.

The teachers work at Limestone Creek Elementary in Jupiter and a school district spokeswoman says the violations happened last week.

The mask mandate for staff and visitors was again extended through this Friday, but state law prohibits mask requirements for students, without parental opt-outs.

A personnel investigation is underway and the unidentified teachers could be subject to discipline, but they have been “invited to come back” to campus when they agree to abide by the school district’s mask rules.
